The partnership between Level5 and Blockworks which began for Permissionless I continued for Permissionless II, and then III in Salt Lake City. Level5 partnered to provide strategic and creative direction, all AV, and onsite production, including design and creation of a Gaming Lounge which featured three different companies in one shared space. This collaboration across company lines brought a new level of understanding for attendees—who could see and experience first-hand the real-life application and connectivity of these tools and technologies.
DeFi has experienced substantial growth. It uses significant and impactful technology, and the gaming industry provides a unique opportunity to explore that potential further, creating innovative gaming experiences while contributing to the continued growth and adoption of DeFi. Integrating DeFi within multiplayer games unlocks novel features like cross-game ownership and interoperability. The largest studios in the gaming world are rushing to incorporate these benefits to new AAA games.
This was the power of the Gaming Lounge at Permissionless III. Showing not only a coming together of cryptocurrency users, gamers, and technology enthusiasts, but also how three companies can work together, too, to advance the field and the innovation potential within. When we play together, we win together.
Three exhibitors shared the lounge, coming together to showcase a new wave of gaming tied to blockchain and DeFi. Futureverse is focused on building digital wallets and tools for creating 3D characters for the metaverse, a virtual world with its own economy. Polemos helps gamers in the world of blockchain games by letting them borrow and lend in-game items without needing collateral. Illuvium creates a world where you can explore a strange planet, capture fantastical creatures and even own them as unique digital collectibles, which you can buy, sell, and battle for.
In short, one team brought the custom avatars and game pieces, another brought a means to move them from game to game, and the third brought the games in which you may want these characters to play.
